"Living Room Table With Screen. Eighteenth Century"
Coffee table in chiffonniere and with mobile screen furnished with silk. Rosewood marquetry in amaranth frames underlined with a net of boxwood. Our charming little table opens with three drawers that have kept their original locks (keys redone). The top of the table is topped with a breccia marble from Aleppo surrounded by an openwork gallery in gilded bronze. Transition Period These small tables with a fire screen had two functions, on the one hand to protect the face from the heat of the fire and thus avoid the face from blushing too much and also to protect the candle flame from drafts when writing a note. These small tables are part of the furniture of almost all living rooms and accompany the seats.
