"Risler Et Carré: Large Superb Inkwell In Sterling Silver, Vermeil, Porcelain & Mirror. C1900"
Superb Louis XVI style inkwell by the great goldsmith Risler et Carré.The inkwell rests on a large quadruped base in gilded metal and mirror, encircled with a torus of laurel leaves and a superbly openwork gallery of floral patterns, in gilded silver.
The body of the inkwell is in porcelain painted with a pastoral scene with two goats and a ruin.
It rests on a small vermeil pedestal decorated with a laurel leaf frieze. The lid, painted with a couple of birds and two butterflies, is fixed by a hinged mount also in vermeil. The socket is formed by a fruiting branch.
The original small glass cup is present. It is supported by a structure, still in vermeil, openworked with flowers as a reminder of the base gallery.

Superb very elegant piece of pure Louis XVI style, made by very great goldsmiths at the turn of the 19th century.
