"Large Framed Watercolor By Anatole Guy-otin: Grand Hôtel Du Parc De Chatel-guyon C 1920"
GUY-OTIN, Anatole. “Chatel-Guyon – Grand Hôtel du Parc – Vedrine Frères Prop[rietai]res”. Watercolor. 72 x 134 cm at sight, in a frame of 82 x 144 cm. Small losses and wear to the frame. The title is given on two brass cartridges at the top and bottom of the frame. Signed lower right: “A. Guy-Otin, 5/20”. View of the Grand Hôtel du Parc in Chatel-Guyon (Puy-de-Dôme) and the spa park that borders it, with the former Hôtel des Princes (today “Splendid”) on the right. The Grand Hôtel du Parc was built around 1900. It was one of the main palaces in Châtel-Guyon and has since been divided into apartments. This drawing gives us precious evidence of this spa town in 1920. The hotel has since been modified and the Avenue de Broqueville has been opened up at its foot. Anatole Guy-Otin was a garden architect. Was he the landscaper of the thermal park of Châtel-Guyon? This is what this large presentation drawing, subsequent to the construction of the hotel, suggests to us. An exhibition was dedicated to Anatole Guy-Otin in 2011 at the Château de Valençay (Indre).
