Dimensions of the frame: 41.30 cm x 49.60 cm.
Flat frame in walnut veneer enhanced with lemon tree fillets, width: 5 cm.
Good condition, six holes probably due to the use of thumbtacks, in the upper part, and one below the signature.
Gabriel GRIFFON (1866 – 1938)
worked for a long time in Bordeaux, then Nice and Agen (his house at 17 rue Carnot became the Griffon Museum).
The one who at the beginning was only a Sunday painter quickly saw his reputation increase.
We particularly appreciate the poetry of his watercolors where idyllic characters stand out in an ethereal light.
