Large porcelain desk inkwellby Samson, hexagonal in shape, featuring
a white relief design on a milky backgroundwith a motif of branches and floral scrolls
framing panels decoratedalternately with insects and floral bouquets.
The high and low reed borderspainted in cobalt blue
accentuated by a rich decoration ofgilded scrollwork.
It features a candleholder in the center, twocovered and removable inkwells,
two pen holders, acovered stamp box, and two compartments.
Produced bythe Emile Samson workshop (1837–1913)
famous for its reproductionsof antique Asian porcelain.
A red stamp on the reverse in theChinese style.
