Chinese Ritual Bell In Carved Jade
Chinese Ritual Bell with Carved Jade Taotie Pattern This Chinese carved jade bell measures 53 cm in height and is decorated with taotie patterns, representing mythical beasts. It also features bas-reliefs of taotie beasts and a thunder motif encircled by a border. The slightly domed top of the bell is surmounted by a knob crowned with a flower and flanked by two animal figures with movable rings. The bell is suspended by a link chain attached to a horizontal support carved with two creatures facing in opposite directions. On each side of the support hang pendants in the shape of a double fish. The set rests on a wooden base. A rare and valuable addition to any collection of Asian antique art.
