Large drawing representing barges and barges docked along a town or village quay with northern architecture Signed in pen at the bottom right and dated 1840 Good condition Frame dimensions 26 cm X 40 cm; drawing 13 cm X 28 cm Presented under glass, framed by an elegant molded oak stick; Art Nouveau label on the back "Dhaveloose house in Lille" Ambroise Détrez (1811 in Paris - 1863 in Valenciennes) painter, former student of Léon Cogniet, student of the Academy of Lille, and professor of painting at the Fine Arts of Valenciennes. He exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1842, 1844 and 1848. Several of his works belong to national collections including the Portrait of his friend Doctor "Paul Gachet then student", Museum of Fine Arts of Valenciennes and "the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple” at the Lille Museum of Fine Arts.
