Architect's table known as "à la Trochin" in Cuban mahogany, late Louis XVI period, circa 1790. The "Tronchin table" or "à la Tronchin" desk was created during the reign of Louis XVI by the doctor Théodore Tronchin (1709-1781) of Genevan origin. At the time, he was carrying out research on bone diseases - frequent consequences of a bad position adopted by architects at their work table. Our piece of furniture, inlaid with beautiful Cuban mahogany, opens with a drawer on the front, 2 side pulls covered in leather. The top, also covered in leather, is composed of 3 articulated planes allowing the work surface to be positioned at the required height and inclination. This table rests on 4 sheathed legs ending in bronze shoes and casters. This piece of furniture has been overhauled (the original mechanism works perfectly) and re-varnished in our workshop (cabinetmaker approved by Historic Monuments), so it is in excellent condition.
