Magic Fishing Rods Carried By A Young Fisherman In Bronze. Japan Around 1900. flag

Object description :

"Magic Fishing Rods Carried By A Young Fisherman In Bronze. Japan Around 1900."
Young boy returning from fishing. Cast bronze, The child holds a long bamboo rod in one hand and a basket in the other. The casting is perfect as well as the finishes, scraper and carving. Signature hollow on the base. We have not yet identified the artist but it is probably one of the best of his time. The child is represented walking, slightly swaying, his face pensive and serene. The fishing rod is also in bronze; although very discreet, it represents a technical challenge. Indeed it was not cast but probably hammered and filed with the greatest care because it is very thin and the bronze is brittle. It is a miracle that it is still intact today. Character only height: 48cm Overall dimensions with the cane 75cm. Excellent condition. Japan about 1900.
