Antique Gold Lapis Lazuli Cameo Earrings
We present a pair of antique lapis lazuli cameos set in a Florentine Gold filigree frame. The intense blue lapis lazuli (probably from Afghanistan) was skilfully hand-worked in Florence achieving a little masterpiece representing Flora, the Godness of the Spring with flowers on the head and a necklace. Despite the hardness of the stone the artist carved a detailed sweet female head with a delicate hair decoration. A little masterpiece of art and patience for the sophisticated tourist of the Grand Tour. An old hallmark is on the hooks. 14K Gold (touchstone tested). They are in perfect condition. A little gold ball is missing.
