Antique Coral Gold Earrings
We are presenting a very important pair of antique earrings with red Mediterranean coral and gold. Typically from Palermo (Sicily) probably a marriage gift. Two big ovals of embossed gold totally decorated with red corals. This kind of earrings was called "a specchio" (mirror); traditionally a marriage gift. From Sicily; end of the 19th century. 14K gold (touchstone tested). An old hallmark is on the hooks. They are in perfect conditions. In Italy expecially in the south almost every woman, rich or poor has some coral ornaments.
