Superb small safe, heavy, thick, clad with brass reinforcements, screwing into the table, it is solid wood, which was called ironwood at the time, Asian, probably, Hua li or Hong Mu ... Solid assembly with visible dowels and thicknesses.
Solid brass bolts and reinforcements. This small box still weighs 2.3kg ...
Nice period key with two turns ending in a button, original iron lock.
It is not the classical money changer casket, it has no internal partitions, it is more probably a reserve which accompanied the changer, for documents, small change; pretty reserve.
