In the 20's and 30's art deco carpets, with abstract patterns and executed according to cartoons of painters, architects and decorators were very popular in Europe and America.  The creation of art deco carpets was inspired by the innovations of cubist painting which emerged in the 1920s. These artists, who were working on colour theory, applied the results of their research to modern carpet designs. In decoration, abstract designs invaded the world of the European carpet. More modern furnishings required a new style of carpet to perfectly match the style of a modern interior.
This carpet sets an example of boldness with its abstract forms. It is characterised by a control of space, line and colour.
