Brussels Tapestry, "rural Scene," Louis XV Period

Tapestry from the Brussels workshops of the Louis XV period. Very fine weave, shimmering color, and in very good condition. Allegorical scene depicting a country meal. This complete tapestry features borders that mimic the gilded frames of paintings. Probably from the workshop of Josse de Vos, after a design by Jean de Reyff (1700–1707). The overall view with its borders does not accurately represent the tapestry, which is complete and uncut; however, the image is distorted, giving the impression of a shape that is more square than rectangular. Our company guarantees that the tapestry is thoroughly cleaned, in good condition, and comes with its original hanging system.
