[Manuscript]. [Important manuscript titled:] Life of Napoleon, Emperor of the French and King of Italy, from his birth to the day of his death. Manuscript dated in fine 1836. A vol. in folio format (450 x 302 mm) of [99 ff.]. Contemporary binding in ivory half-vellum with corners, handwritten title label glued to the front cover, smooth spine. Important manuscript; including in fine the date of 1836. The drafting is however slightly earlier. A second part is entitled Battles, combats and victories of the French armies to which a certain number of pages are missing. A last part relates to the death of the Emperor; containing poems and Eulogies. This important work is dedicated to the Minister of War of the time. It consists of 98 ff. narrating the life of Napoleon written in brown ink; the last provides information on the functions and qualities of the writer and bears the autograph signature of Barthélémy Germain; where he served. Worn corners and cuts. Scattered losses affecting the marbled paper of the covers as well as the title piece. Some spots in the text. Drip (unimpeded for reading) affecting two sheets. Slight circle in the lower margin of the sheets (which can sometimes make reading more difficult). Ink slightly faded on a few pages.
