Object description :

"Pair Of Lacquered ''cabriolet'' Armchairs Stamped G. Boucault, 18th Century"
Nice model of "cabriolet" armchairs, violin shape, carved on beech and lacquered, from the 18th century, stamped G. BOUCAULT and bearing the hallmark of the Jurande des Maîtres Ébénistes (JME)
They have an elegant decoration of flowers on the backrest, the front crosspiece as well as at the base of the feet.
The proportions are ample, the structure is both powerful and supple, the lines elegantly wavy, with recessed armrest consoles connecting harmoniously to the waistband.
The base has an elegant arch whose moldings join those of the fretted crosspieces.
Guillaume Boucauld was received as Master carpenter in Paris on December 17, 1766.
He worked first on rue de Charonne, then on rue Sainte-Marguerite, producing Louis XV and Louis XVI seats of the classic type.
