Rare and superb KONYA HOTAMIS wedding kilim around 1880

This wedding rug is atypical for its unusual dimensions, 290 * 200cm.
This carpet was tied by the bride's family as a wedding present for the new couple; material is much thicker and denser than for other kilims, with a very beautiful wool woven with tighter knots.
These nomadic tribe rugs are usually bi-partite (except for rare old so-called "workshop" kilims) because they are made usingnot very wide looms because intended to be frequently transported (length between 70 and 100cm) . The 2 parts of kilim are then sewn together.
