Set of four cane-bottomed armchairs in molded, sculpted and waxed beech wood with characteristic lines from the first quarter of the 18th century. Indeed the characteristics of these seats allow us, to date them, around 1715. Always of square structure but sketching an evolution towards curved movements; the seat and the backrest are always square, but the latter is lower in height. The seat is wider than it is deep. The armrests are no longer straight sheathed with cuffs but voluble and fluid; their consoles are set back in the crosspiece. The console base is abandoned in favor of an arched movement with a shoulder, but a sign of a progressive evolution, its four legs are still joined by a crotch brace and an interior winding raised with acanthus. A new natural decorative repertoire, made up of fancy shells, wavy scalloping of grass appears, but the perfect symmetry of the decor is still required. Each of these four seats has a seat cushion; all times being vested in two different pieces, their colors mark their split into two pairs. It is worth noting the great care given to the linking elements of irreproachable quality. Balance, nervousness and elegance are the most appropriate terms for these very beautiful cane-bottomed seats of very good quality. Restorations of use and interviews, in particular certain ends of the feet and the canings are redone. This series can, if necessary, be split into two pairs. Dimensions: Height 99.8cm - seat height 46.5cm plus 5cm of slab. Seat width 62cm - backrest width 53.5cm - cuff 57.5cm Seat depth 50.2cm
