Portrait of a philosopher, oil on canvas, dimensions 64 cm x 81 cm, with its beautiful old carved wooden frame, 84 cm x 101 cm, Italy early 17th century, entourage of Giovanni Serodine. Serodine known to be one of the last representatives of Caravaggism was born in Ascona in Ticino in 1594, he died in Rome on December 21, 1630. He was very appreciated as a painter of half-figures, such as a Father of the Church writing or Saint John the Evangelist or even Saint Peter in prison, to which our painting is quite close.
