"Portrait Of An Identified Lady Oil On Canvas 18th"
18th century French School "Portrait of a lady of quality holding flowers" Oil on its original canvas, annotated on the back: "Marie-Thérèse Basson de La Chevalerie, wife of Mr de Montron Major, died March 24, 1777, aged 48 years old" Provenance: Château des Brefs, former holiday resort of the Gallimard family (where for the record Albert Camus finished writing "La Peste" and Saint-Exupéry a few passages ) In its 19th century blackened wooden frame original like the other family portraits that once remained at the Château des Brefs. In perfect condition, just an intervention by a professional restorer for the varnish after a light cleaning and installation of small keys on the back of the original 18th century stetcher. Dimensions with frame: H.95cm x L.78cm
