Polychrome terra cotta Madonna and Child statuette, 17th century

This statuette is moulded in terra cotta, more precisely a pale clay also named pipeclay. Crowned, Virgin Mary wears a long red dress held on the weist by a belt. In a swaying stance, she carries the Infant Jesus, also crowned, on her left arm.

The statuette has been repaired and glued on waistline area (see pictures).
