Museum: Medieval Pyxis In Incised Boiled Leather, Gothic, Good Condition

A rare item, still in fairly good condition after 5+ centuries.
Cylindrical box fom turned wood, covered on all exterior sides with boiled leather tool worked of repoussé and engraving, the bottoms amatis with a small needle. Body rests on a base with a strong ring with oblique notches, the leather below, (under a thickness of old glue), shows a rosette or a star; above, between frames of filets, two embossed panels of high relief with face-to-face Gothic foliage forming one heart, and two loops for a leather lace. The lid, same filets, same pointeau work, same materials reveals the use of this box: it contained a consecrated host, bearing the seal of Jesus Christ.
French work XV or XVIth century.
If body of this box is easily found in documentation, a flat lid like this is quite rare. Thanks to the Metropolitan Museum for presenting a flat lid of the same shape and workmanship (last photo) and for announcing its origin: France.
Dimensions: 7cm x 6cm.
Condition: good, some wear, little lack on inside border, hole on bottom. Lid needs to be forced a little to hold, the materials having changed over the climatic events, but it is a pleasure in the hands.
