Louis XIII Canopy Bedroom Set - XIXth

Important set of a Louis XIII style bedroom in oak richly carved with foliage scrolls, character masks, grotesques as well as cartouches decorated with fruit. This set is composed of:
- A four-poster bed with bedding support made to measure. The upper part of the canopy is embellished with its blue bed canopy decorated with fleur-de-lys and the uprights are in twisted columns.
- A headboard sculpted with the same ornaments as the bed. It opens with a frieze drawer whose handle is sculpted with an animal head and opens with a door below sculpted on the front with an oval cartouche. The interior is composed of 2 shelves placed on fixed cleats. The rear is paneled and rests on 2 flattened ball feet at the front and 2 straight rear feet.
- A desk table on all sides decorated with the same sculptures opening with a frieze drawer with its hollow animal head handle. Its legs and uprights in twisted columns are braced and embellished with a central sculpture.
- A chest of drawers richly sculpted like the other pieces of furniture opening with 1 frieze drawer as well as 2 doors revealing 3 drawers whose sides are cut in an animated shape towards the front. The doors are richly carved with cartouches as are the sides. The back is paneled and it rests on 2 flattened ball feet at the front and 2 straight feet at the back.
- A richly sculpted bonnetière opening with a door embellished with mercury ice and closing with a key, the interior is made up of 3 adjustable shelves on racks. It opens below with a drawer with its hollow animal head handle. Its cornice is amply molded and its amounts in twists. Its sides are paneled and decorated with engravings of cartouches in medallions. It rests on 2 front flattened ball feet and 2 rear straight feet and the rear is paneled.

Period: Late 19th century.

Perfect condition after restoration, stripping and waxed patina in our workshop.
