"winter Walk" Oil On Cardboard XIXs.

Charming peasant scene of a winter walk. The background treated in soft half-tones, consists of a distant perspective of bare trees and a small hamlet buried under the snow, only the two characters and their dog stand out, moving along the edge of a frozen lake. One can also notice the striking realism of the blocks of ice extracted from this lake. The subject, the characters and the snow-covered trees may suggest the work of a follower of Louis Claude Malbranche. Oil on cardboard from the first half of the 19th century. French school. Period frame in gilded stucco and key mounting. Frame: 58cm x 42.5cm. Box: 44 cm x 28.5 cm.
