Spectacular Marine representing on the stormy sea, vessels under sail fighting against the storm with a coastal town in the background. there is a lot of strength in this panel with superbly detailed rigging and a very realistic foaming sea, the background shows a Dutch port with its quays, houses, churches and a mill. The whole is surrounded by a very beautiful 19th century frame decorated with gilded stucco in the Regency style. (key assembly). Auction label on the back, describing the painting, with the date of sale "April 1907" and an artist name that could not be identified. Panel on slightly veiled oak, small wood graft not visible on the front, small wear and small material rework. 19th century Dutch school. Frame ; 127cm x 93cm. Panel: 103 cm x 69 cm.
