Demountable Transformation Table
A rare convertible fruitwood table. It can be transformed into a flat table, a reading table, or a watercolor table thanks to a clever system of butterfly fasteners that can be unscrewed to achieve the desired angle. Note the delicate hinged shelf that can also be retracted into the thickness of the tabletop to hold a book or drawing. The entire piece is fully demountable using four butterfly fasteners and two lag bolts for easy transport. It consists of two molded and carved uprights, each adorned with a finial, mounted on two glides, and a footrest. The tabletop, with its undulating and molded edge, is recessed into a small indentation. This charming provincial piece is entirely original, with only minor pitting and restoration, primarily at the base of the glides. A French provincial work from the late 18th century.
