In African art, all DAN TOURA masks are sacred. The type of mask presented is a racing mask from Ivory Coast. Tradition has it that its wearer is chased by an unmasked runner. If he was caught, he had to pass his mask on to the winner. And so on. These races were once intended to train men in running and fighting. This wooden mask is decorated with seashells and it is sold presented on a metal base on which it comes to rest. Very decorative. Mask only: Height 36 cm Mask with support: Height 50 cm
