"Pair Of Altar Vases, Silver, Flanders, Circa 1700-50"
Pair of altar vases in solid silver and ebony from the 1700-1750 period. They come from the treasure of the Black Sisters of Saint John's Hospital in Bruges, now transformed into a museum. They were designed to be placed on an altar on either sides of The Altar Cross. Manufactured in a fairly thin thickness of silver, they suffered a little during the countless cleanings during their three centuries of existence. They show traces of several repairs and some imperfections and lacks. They have been completely revised and restored in our workshops. To protect them, I had them varnished. This will prevent you from having to clean them and possibly damaging them unintentionally. Given their great fragility, it is rather rare to find a pair in good condition on the art market.
