"Okimono - Brush Pot, Meiji Japan 19th Century."
An ivory okimono in the shape of a container for calligraphy brushes (brush pot). The spatial relief represents Japanese warriors fighting against (mythical?) Creatures. The characters and wild animals are depicted very gracefully and with great attention to detail. Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Height 20.5 cm, base diameter 10 cm. Condition as seen in the photos, very good, minimal damage to the openwork bottom behind the warriors. According to the Washington Convention (CITES), the item is allowed for trade due to the time of its creation. Free delivery in EU! I send packages by insured mail.
