Pair of Art Nouveau pitchers with handles. Ceramic covered with a green glaze. The handles are in the shape of stylized female figures - nymphs. The masks of old men are visible on the front.

The family dynasty of ceramicists began with Pierre Massier (1707-1748) in Vallauris, in the south of France. His grandsons Jacques (1806-1871) and Jérôme (1820-1909) opened a workshop in 1833. Jacques' sons, Delphin (1836-1907) and Clément (1844-1917), settled in Golfe-Juan in 1883. Jean-Baptiste (1850-1916), Jérôme's son, took over his father's workshop. In 1887, the factory became an official supplier to the English Crown. Massier invited artists such as Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer, James Vibert, and Opta Milet to work with him.
