émile Mousseux – Marlotte – Rare Blue-green Glazed Stoneware Covered Jar – Art Deco
A beautiful glazed stoneware covered jar by Émile Mousseux, made at the Faïencerie d’art de Marlotte around 1920–1930, in the Montigny-sur-Loing region.
Round and slightly flattened in shape, this piece captivates with its superb blue-green, celadon green, and brown glaze, featuring particularly decorative shades and glaze runs. The lid harmoniously echoes this same artistic treatment of the material.
The piece bears the mark “E.M. Marlotte ” on the base, corresponding to Émile Mousseux’s personal production following the death of Aristide Bézard in 1916.
Émile Mousseux (1866–1941) was one of the leading figures in artistic ceramics at Marlotte, where he developed a significant body of stoneware featuring original glazes.
