Very elegant and large early Empire clock depicting Diana, the Huntress, seated on rocks. The clock has been executed in mercury gilded and patinated bronze.We seeDiana retrieving an arrow from her quiver and holding a prey in her hand. She sits on a patinated bronze rock which encloses a circular drum which houses the clockwork. Further, the center has a decoration of a waterfall flanked by reeds.
The clockwork has a big white enameled dial with gilt bronze hands. Also, this dial carries the signature H. Laresche à Paris. According to Tardy, this clockmaker was active between 1804-1815 at Palais Royal, Galerie des Offices.
This Empire clock “Diana Huntress” standson an important bow-ended rectangular base with a relief frieze showing a hunting scene. For example, we see hounds attacking a deer and ducks tied with a ribbon. The clock rests on six turned tapering toupie feet. It dates fromthe very beginning of the 19th century.

The eight-days going movement has a wire suspension pendulum. It has a twin-barrel movement with count wheel strike on a bell. It strikes the hour and half hour on it’s bell. The clock is in a excellent and perfect working condition. Also, it has recently been cleaned and serviced by a professional clock maker. The clock comes complete with its pendulum, key and bell.
