Mandingo - Malinke - Or "sofa" Saber
Mandingo saber. Also called "Sofa", these Malinke sabers were intended for the horsemen called sofa: the latter distinguished themselves in the war led at the end of the 19th century by Samory against the French who were then colonizing West Africa. The curved blades are also inspired by French sabers. The leather scabbard is more traditional in the taste of Arab-Berber leather goods. Copper pommel, with sides.
