"Pendule En Malachite, Ormolu Et Bronze De Style Louis XVI Du 19ème Siècle "
An elegant and high-quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Malchite, ormolu, and patinated bronze clock signed Fabrege a Montpellier. The rectangular Malachite support displays a lightly curved reeded wrap around ormolu band leading up to additional support with a striking richly chased fitted pierced ormolu mount of mirrored Vitruvian scrolls. Above is a beautiful finely detailed patinated bronze maiden draped in a wonderfully executed flowing garment reading a book. She is seating on a low stool while lying back, leaning on the exceptional clock. The clock displays a white enameled clock face with cobalt blue Roman numeral hour markings and Arabic numeral minute markings. At the center is the signature, while the most decorative and richly chased ormolu body displays beautiful scrolled foliate designs and a berried laurel wreath above, tied with a charming ribbon. All original gilt and patina throughout.
