Large oil on canvas depicting the bourdigues in the island of Martigues. The bourdigues were a space intended for fishing, made up of an enclosure which made it possible to capture fish when the sea receded. Very beautiful impressionist spirit canvas painted around 1910, treated with a rich material which allows to obtain a luminous intensity very appreciated in the landscapes of the French Riviera and in particular of Martigues. Work in very good condition, a small piece of reinforcement on the back. Gilded wood frame, key frame. Stamp Lefranc et Cie. Exhibition label. Dimensions of the canvas, 68x93 cm Total dimensions, with frame, 92x114 Jean-Baptiste Duffaud, born in Marseille on January 7, 1853 and died on June 17, 1927 in Paris, pupil of Magaud at the Beaux-Arts in Marseille then of Barrias and Gérôme at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited each year at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1875 and obtained an honorable mention in 1885 and a medal in 1889. He won the Marie Bashkirtseff prize in 1891. From 1911-1912, to the compositions in the dark ranges, follow sunny landscapes riddled with serifs as if to trap the irradiations of the sun, close to Jean-Baptiste Olive. Works preserved in many museums including the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Musée Calvet in Avignon, the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Troyes.
