Box In Wood And Lacquer, France Work Of The 18th Century, Style Of China, Garden Decor, Letters Persons And Furniture Object

Beautiful old lacquered wood box decorated with characters, letters and / or wise men dispensing their wisdom to younger people in an environment of architecturized and landscaped gardens where pines, prunus, and flowers grow on grassy mounds.
This is a French work in the style of China.
** End of the XVIIIth-Beginning of the XIXth Century **
The object has two sides decorated with beautiful scenes, the front side and the cover, those of the two ends are decorated with movable objects, vase, incense burner or scepter etc.
On the lid we can also see a stork in the air, a steaming teapot at tea time and a vase; a young person is about to serve tea to a sage. The five visible faces are framed by nets forming a flourish or frieze of Greek; the reverse is rough wood.
You will notice that the back side bears a four-character calligraphy lettering.
This box is made of pine or fir, its assembly has been carried out according to the rules of the art, with tenons, mortises etc. In conclusion, here is a beautiful old object of character and charm; I would say that despite its obvious state of use it suffers little from its small imperfections due to the ravages of time.
