Silversmith Mongin, Pair Of Grape Scissors Richly Crafted In Steel And Gilded Steel, Circa 1900
Artist: Orfèvre Mongin
Very nice pair of grape scissors from the Art Nouveau period, around 1900. The handle finely cut openwork and chiseled with foliage scrollwork motifs; the part located between the arms of the chisel centered with a motif depicting a stylized fleur-de-lis. This pair of scissors seems entirely made of steel, the gripping arms offering a gilded or gold-plated surface. The assembly screw of the two elements is made of blued steel, its head and its opposite end are worked. They are functional and cut grape branches very well.
