Jean-Paul Van Lith, born in 1940, Contemporary artist, painter, ceramist, master glassmaker, sculptor, designer and French writer, works and lives in Biot. In 1984, the Sèvres museum invited the artist to exhibit his work. Jean Paul Van Lith was promoted to Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1985. Since 1991, his pieces have been exhibited at the Sèvres museum. For years, Jean Paul Van Lith worked on the drafting of the book bringing together all the world knowledge of ceramics: 'Ceramics, encyclopedic dictionary'. He is the author of Fil de fer et ferblanterie, Masques du monde. He has also written numerous articles for the magazines L'Atelier des Métiers d'Art and La Céramique Moderne. Very active in the defense and promotion of trades, in 1991 he took over from Jacques Blin as President of the Chambre Syndicale des Métiers d'Art (Fondation des Métiers d'Art), which organizes the Salon des Ateliers d'Art, which has become the Maison-Objet fair in Paris. Many of his works are part of the permanent collections of many museums (Liège (Belgium) glass museum, Vallauris municipal museum of ceramics and modern art, Paris museum of Decorative Arts, Calgary (Canada) museum, Kiev (Russia) museum , Sèvres National Museum of Ceramics, in Holland Princely Collections….), And were awarded in the categories sculpture, ceramics and painting.
