ANTOINE BOURDELLE (1861-1929
Entered in 1893 in the workshop of A. Rodin, his beginnings are difficult because his style is opposed to the academic of the time. The Universal Exhibition of 1900 will mark its beginnings to impose its style inspired by ancient Greece with more rigid achievements which foreshadow art deco. French and foreign orders flow in and the International Decorative Arts Exhibition of 1925 consecrates it defining it. His house-workshop of the 15th. arrondissement of Paris became, following the important donation of his wife in 1949, the Bourdelle Museum where we can admire in particular monumental pieces.
His works are present in numerous French and foreign collections and museums.
