"Majolica - Thomas-victor Sergent, Ceramic Barbotine Clock, Circa 1870/80 - Art Nouveau"
Thomas-Victor Sergent (1830 - 1890) Very rare and important pendulum. Exceptional ceramic decorations on a marbled background comprising two cherubs on each side, one carrying a sheaf of wheat the other a dove. On the upper central part, a satyr's head surrounded by fruit, on the lower central part, a cherub's head wearing a lion's head and a coat of arms. The upper corbelled part is supported by two winding applique lion heads. The central dial, inserted on a pedestal, has Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, on a white enamel background.
