Rain Coat In Palm Fiber, Japan Or China, End Of The 19th Century, Beginning Of The 20th Century

Astonishing rain coat, native to Asia, China or Japan, many period photos show both of these populations wearing it.
On the other hand we can notice, see photos that regardless of the social level, everyone wore this raincoat of the time.
Braided in palm fiber, consisting of a skirt held in place by two straps at the front in braided palm sewn on a hood with shoulders, two cords at the collar and two cords at the waist as a clasp.
Ten folds of seams are visible on the back inside for a good hold of the whole
Dimensions: Length at the back: 80 cm Width at the shoulders: 35 cm,
Dimensions which lets us think that this rain coat certainly belonged to a child or to a person, women? of small size.
A fine example of ethnologiece style of clothing is present in some museums around the world, notably at the Quai Branly, Musée Guimet.
