Japan, lacquer and tortoiseshell inro, Edo period, early 18th century.

Lacquer Inrô with three elements and cover, slightly domed shape. It shows a continuous decoration of a dragon emerging from the clouds. The swirling clouds are in gold lacquer taka maki-e, hira maki-e. The dragon is in fully sculpted tortoiseshell. The background is in Ro-iro black lacquer. The interior is in nashi-ji lacquer.
Good general condition with traces of use.
6.5 x 6 x 2.3 cm.
