A very interesting Renaissance medal that León Leoni (1509-1590) sculpted in honor of the illustrious sailor on the occasion of having freed him from the pain the sculptor had incurred. It represents on the front a superb bust of Andrea Doria and on the back a galley. Cast of the period somewhat deficient on the reverse. With a beautiful old patina. Measures: diameter 42 mm
