Large Empire Clock, Early 19th Century
An impressive Empire bronze pendulum representing "Ulysses".
The hero is leaning on his lance, his sword resting against his seat. Its shield serves as a dial. On the base, in applique patterns, the attributes of the goddess Minerva. The pendulum is supported by owls, also linked to Minerva.
An identical pendulum is kept at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Illustrated in "The French pendulum, 2nd part, Tardy, 1969" page 372. Condition report: Very good condition, the gilding (gilding and matt gilding) is perfectly preserved.
The movement is being revised (the numbers on the dial will be noticed).
