Lacquer Box With Gilt Bronze Mount
Box, poly-lobed box in Japanese lacquer with vegetable decoration in gold on a black background of flowers, foliage and conifers, decorated with small steel nails. Frame in chased and gilded bronze with openwork leafy scrolls, supported by four winged sphinxes. Presence of some wear to the gilding, as well as a slot on one side of the box, visible in the photos, but invisible when the box is closed. Box from the Second Empire period.
