Acetylene Lantern Chef De Gare, Circa 1900, Signed
Artist: Ateliers Parisiens
Beautiful portable railway lighting, hand-held signaling lantern with 3 functions, white, green and red light, with screens of pivoting colored glass, station manager or gatekeeper, from the time of the steam railway. The lantern, which has two tanks, one high and one low, runs on acetylene carbide, which forms a combustible gas on contact with water. It is lit on the spout placed in front of the mirror-reflector, which produces an intense light .... Beautiful manufacture of brass, iron and wood, signed by a renowned Parisian lamp designer, supplier of French and foreign railway companies, see our photos.
