"Enamels On Silver Renaissance Style Jewel, Austria Hungary, 19thc"
Beautiful pendant, turned into brooch, silver and silver gilt chiselled, enamelled of bright colors, front and back, recto encased of fine stones, ending with baroque pearl.
Subject inspired by the Renaissance: a white stallion relies on a heraldic lion with an engraved vermeil fur. The two animals and coat of arms make the symbolism of this jewel, supported by interlocking foliage, with polychrome enameled hollows.
Hungarian work, during Austro-Hungarian Empire, circa 1870.
There is no visible mark, the object was perhaps mounted as a pendant, please see museum object of the Renaissance period, circa 1600, presented in last picture. Dimensions: 5cm x 3,5cm, weight: 9,8gr
