Claude Bonnefond was formed by Pierre Révoil and Alexis Grognard. He made many trips to Italy, during which he realized sketches, drawings and paintings of Rome, Campania and Tuscany. He was director of the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Lyon.
