19th Century Chambord Drawing
Artist: J. Sadier
Large original DRAWING in graphite pencil on Bristol paper, 19th century, signed J. Sadier and dated [18]96.
Dimensions: 63 × 47 cm.
An almost photographic representation of the Château de Chambord. The work is incredibly meticulous.
Given the place of purchase of this drawing, we can assume that the draughtsman or draughtswoman belongs to the Sadier d'Arquian family (58). It couldn't be Jules Alexander Sadier, the anarchist expatriated to Buenos Aires, so it could be Joséphine Esther, born in 1857 and whose death date is unknown. Or it could be the mathematician J. Sadier, mentioned in the Annales mathématiques of the time. In any case, this drawing demonstrates an impressive mastery of the drawing technique.
Beware, if you change the frame: the paper is extremely fragile.
