Snuffbox corozo * finely carved, decorated with the Emperor Napoleon I seated near rocks and looking at the telescope a boat away, certainly in exile on the island of St. Helena, work sailor or bagnard, vintage nineteenth century. This snuffbox is in good condition and is of high quality. A note: some slots on one side and on the cover, slight wear of time, see photos. ____________________________ * The coconut as the corozo was worked by sailors or convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but also and especially to make a little money to improve their lives. Can also be attributed to sailors on their long journeys.
